2021 Product Innovation Award Nominations


HVIA’s Product Innovation Award (sponsored by NTI & Truck Assist) recognises HVIA Members who have designed and utilised new technology or built an innovative product to address the growing road freight task.

The 2020 award went to  Tiger Spider for their Hevi Spec/Spider Path  nomination.

The nominations for the 2021 HVIA Productivity Innovation Award include products and services that provide innovative technological solutions for new and existing market needs.

Kenworth T410SAR

The Australian designed and manufactured T410SAR combines attributes of cab-over and conventional trucks, offering the excellent manoeuvrability, visibility, and short overall length of a cab-over, and great serviceability, ease of cab access and low tare weight of a bonneted truck.

Through its set-forward axle, the T410SAR offers better weight distribution and has been designed specifically to provide maximum payload for 19m B-Doubles, most 19m Quad-Dog applications and car carrier applications.


O’Phee B-double crane counter-weight B-double SKEL trailer combination

O’Phee Trailers, part of The Drake Group of Companies, in conjunction with The Freo Group and WGC Cranes, has created a single trailer design to support a range of brands and sizes of crane.

This smart multi-functional lightweight trailer suits all model crane types through a unique multi cradle system.

The trailer can be configured as a single trailer, B-double or road train and features a removable cassette cradle system.


RGA-UC – Wireless Mobile Column Lifts

The First Australian Produced All-Electric Truck

In 2021, SEA Electric launched Australia’s first volume produced range of all-electric trucks, including the SEA 300 and the SEA 500 models, suiting applications from 4.5 tonne car licence vehicles through to 22.5 tonne 3 axle trucks.

The SEA-Drive® Power system is currently available in four specifications, ranging from 180HP/700Nm, through to 470HP/3,500Nm, with various battery capacities from 88kWh through to 220kWh.

The trucks are produced from a Semi Knocked Down (SKD) kit, with the donor truck cab mated to chassis rails, suspension, wheels and all drive-train components at the SEA Electric factory.

The process has resulted in many specialist jobs being created, both in the company’s engineering ranks and within the factory.


TX-TrailerPulse

Wabco TX-TrailerPluse is a telematics box that pulses the trailer EBS braking system, supplying real-time location and rich EBS data to the operators back-office software platform.

The web-based TX-TRAILERFIT portal collects data from the trailer T-EBS system and TX-TRAILERPULSE, to provide insights into the technical performance and health state of a fleet’s trailer park.

Capturing data that was only available by connecting a laptop to the trailer, TX-TRAILERPULSE can now get the same data as it happens.

Fleet managers and owners are now able to receive real-time updates on safety events such as Roll Stability Intervention (RSS) giving you time, place, Axle weight & speed information via email.


When In Doubt Lock It Out

This design enables One handed operation on any Male standard and self-sealing air fitting.

The design was produced to address gaps with current products available -other designs are two to five times the price and are not one-handed or one-piece operation when in use.


TraXon

Light, strong and intelligent, TraXon was the first modular transmission that combines a basic high-tech automatic transmission with ZF ConAct actuation and various setting-off and shift modules.

The industry-leading modular design concept includes options such as single/twin plate dry clutch, ZF-Intarder, clutch-dependent and driving-dependent power take-offs (PTOs), additional heat exchanger for non-Intarder transmissions, WSK torque converter clutch, the starting module for heavy goods vehicle traffic (TraXon Torque) and Hybrid.

TraXon features ZF’s innovative electronics including software that combines a predictive shifting strategy and together with PreVision GPS, which assists TraXon preselect the most suitable gear ratio in any situation on uphill gradients and increase the use of ECOroll function to further reduce the fuel consumption and enabling the driver to focus on their surroundings.
