HVIA’s Product Innovation Award recognises members who have designed and utilised new technology or built an innovative product to address the growing road freight task.
The award recognises products and services that provide innovative technological solutions for new and existing market needs.
The 2019 Product Innovation Award (sponsored by NTI & Truck Assist) was awarded to Graham Lusty Trailers for their High Volume Side Tipper nomination.
The main focal point of the innovation comes from the engineering to keep the centre of mass within the foot print of the wheel base throughout the tipping cycle and achieving a tipping angle of 47 degrees.
These trailers are primarily used in the waste sector where the trailers are discharged on uneven and unstable surfaces. Stability is vital while discharging to reduce the risk of the trailer falling over.
It was determined that a 10% extra payload would be achieved by this innovation and in turn the total loads per day would decrease.
Assuming a scenario where 50% of waste is moved by 26m B-Doubles each day of the year over a distance of 150kms, it would equate to a reduction of 6 loads per day and a yearly reduction of 370,102kms travelled.
Nominations are now open for the 2020 HVIA National Awards. They are open to HVIA member companies and their employees, across Australia.
Full details of each award can be accessed via the button below.
The awards will be presented at the HVIA Gala Awards Dinner in Brisbane on 20 November 2020.
Nomination close on 21 August 2020.
