Albanese Government acts on AdBlue

The Australian Government has committed to create a national stockpile of diesel exhaust fluid to avert a repeat of the AdBlue experienced earlier this year that threatened to cripple Australian road freight transport.

Energy Minister the Hon Chris Bowen MP said the Government’s $49.5 million investment package will support Australia’s sovereign manufacturing capacity.

“While the market is currently well supplied, we need to put in place measures to deliver certainty and provide back-up in case of disruption.”

HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking said it is vital to have on-shoring capability of technical grade urea (TGU).

“Congratulations to the Albanese Government and in particular Minister Bowen,” Mr Hacking said.

“Last Christmas was a wake-up call for the whole supply chain.

“Australia’s sovereign capacity and our way of living requires certainty on Adblue supply – otherwise trucks stop.”
